2024 Oita Japan Festival
Celebrate the culture of Japan at the Oita Japan Festival!

NEW LOCATION! This event is taking place INSIDE the Long Center located at 701 W. Riverside Drive in Austin, TX 78704.
The ninth annual Oita Japan Festival #OitaATX is hosted by the Austin-Oita Sister City Committee (AOSCC) to celebrate Austin's Japanese Sister City, Oita. This family-friendly festival will include Japanese food, kids' activities, cultural education and more. Once again, Austin Kendo Doshikai will conduct a demonstration of kendo, “the way of the sword.” Demonstration time is 11:40 am.

AUSKF Summer Camp and Kodansha
REGISTRATION DEADLINE JULY 31, 2024. The registration is officially open for the 2024 AUSKF Summer Camp to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, August 16th to Sunday, August 18th. An exciting program is scheduled with Hanshi 8th Dan Katsuhiko Tani sensei and Kyoshi 8th Dan Yoji Ishida sensei. Details regarding this event can be found in this link here.
Waco Kendo Summer Mini-camp with Shinsa and Friendship Youth Taikai
The Waco Kendo Summer Mini-camp will take place July 22 (Monday) through July 26 (Friday). On Saturday, July 27th, there will be an SWKIF Shinsa up to 1-dan, a Friendship Youth Taikai, and a Godo Keiko, followed by dinner (TBD). Saturday’s event location is different from the Summer Mini-camp. Please see the consolidated information in the attached PDF along with all registration deadlines and event details. 2024 Tulsa Rensei Taikai
The 2024 Tulsa Rensei Taikai will be hosted by Tulsa Kendo (Shin Sou Fu Kan) on the weekend of May 3-5 at the Charles Schusterman Jewish Community Center. AUSKF Kodansha Shinsa
The All United States Kendo Federation holds its biannual board meeting this weekend in Houston, Texas. On Sunday will be the Kodansha rank examination (shinsa) for kenshi seeking ranks of godan (5th-dan) and higher. More details coming soon.
SWKIF Shinpan and Shinsa Seminar
Shinpan and Shinsa (kodansha) Seminar led by AUSKF and SWKIF President Michio Kajitani sensei with Tetsuo Komizu sensei and Kenichi Hatakeyama sensei. Organized by Dallas Fort Worth Kendo & Iaido Kyokai, the purpose of this event is to develop shinpan and prepare for upcoming rank examinations (shinsa). Saturday will be a full day shinpan seminar from 9am to 4:30pm, and Sunday 9am to 12pm will focus on shinsa.

College Kendo Practice, Taikai, and Shinsa
Organized by Houston Kenshikan of the Southern United States Kendo and Iadio Federation (SUSKIF), the purpose of this event is to promote the development of college Kendo in this region and is open to college students, alumni, instructors, supporters, as well as prospective college students.
